Nicholas Simmons is an American watercolourist born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He studied with many well-known watercolourists, most notably Valfred Thelin and Barbara Nechis, and developed a bold original style. Nicholas began painting full-time in 2002 and his works are now admired by fellow artists and art lovers worldwide. Exhibiting his watercolours has won him top awards in 2007 (Gold Medal, NWS, 87th International Exhibition), 2008 and 2009 (Gold Medal, Pennsylvania Watercolour Society, respectively 29th and 30th Juried International Exhibition). He also gives workshops in the United States and is a contributor of the international watercolour magazine "L'Art de l'Aquarelle".

Nicholas combines various elements : figures, abstract shapes, printed lettering, neon lights, graffiti, ... to create large scale paintings that are immediately recognizable by their vivid colours, winning contrasts, intense darks, vibrant atmosphere and spontaneity. He is one of our contemporary watercolourists who explore all the possibilities of watercolour, presenting it as a fully-fledged medium in the same way as other Fine Arts media.

Thank you for the translations, and to everyone for the very nice comments. However, I am not a "great master" by any means, just a guitar player who started "winging it" in watercolor with some lucky results. I should probably be working a lot harder at it. Too many distractions in life!
Did I really write "merco"???? Américain stupide!! :)
