Je travaille actuellement un paysage de bord de mer à l'aquarelle. Voici quelques étapes de mon processus de travail. Pour représenter les pierres situées sur la plage, j'ai choisi d'alterner les techniques du Positif et du Négatif. En effet, cette association offre une multitude de possibilités de design et contribue à créer forme et profondeur. Elle améliore également l'apect réaliste du sujet et permet de belles variations de couleur, d'espace et de texture tout en gardant une part d'abstraction.

I am currently painting a marine landscape in watercolour. Here are some steps of my painting process. To depict the stones on the beach, I have chosen to alternate the Positive and Negative techniques. Indeed, this combination offers many possibilities of design and contributes to create depth and contour. This also improves the realistic look of the stones and enables nice variations of colour, space and texture while keeping some abstraction.

Thank you Nick, I try to do my best and really have fun with this technique on a bigger format !

The process alternates positive and negative spaces to create entangled shapes that will finally depict the stones. I try to preserve some abstraction in this watercolour that is still representational ..., not easy !
I mainly use mineral and sedimentary pigments that are more or less diluted regarding their place (background or foreground) on the painting.
