Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours - Exhibition 2011 (London, UK)

Je me suis rendue à Londres le 29 mars dernier pour assister au vernissage de la 199è Exposition du Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours aux Mall Galleries. Je me sens à la fois privilégiée et honorée de figurer parmi les artistes exposants et de présenter mon aquarelle, "Trésor de Pierre", aux côtés d'oeuvres réalisées par certains des meilleurs artistes britanniques actuels : David Poxon, Shirley Trevena, Chris Forsey, John Raynes, Mat Barber Kennedy, Naomi Tydeman, Sandra Walker, Jean Noble, Ann Blockley, Amanda Spencer, ... ainsi que Xidan Chen (CHN) et bien d'autres encore ...

Cet événement propose de découvrir l'aquarelle contemporaine à travers une multitude de styles et techniques. Les 448 oeuvres exposées nous guident vers une réelle odyssée de l'aquarelle. Celle-ci nous démontre la richesse et les possibilités infinies qu'offre l'utilisation des médiums solubles à l'eau, de sa forme la plus traditionnelle à la plus expérimentale. La qualité et la diversité des oeuvres exposées sont stupéfiantes : aquarelle pure, pigments déposés sur support texturé (notamment par une préparation au gesso), textures construites par lavis successifs, collages, incrustations, aquarelle combinée à l'acrylique / la gouache / l'encre, carnets de croquis, ...

Grâce à une organisation et un savoir-faire brillants, le Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours contribue à promouvoir les médiums solubles à l'eau de la meilleure manière possible : en présentant le meilleur des aquarelles contemporaines, en encourageant les artistes à découvrir de nouveaux chemins de création et de développement de leur technique et en leur offrant de nouvelles sources d'inspiration, stimulées par un partage constant de leur propre vision de l'aquarelle. L'exposition 2011 sera à retenir et mérite amplement le déplacement !

Cet événement se déroule jusqu'au 10 avril 2011 aux Mall Galleries de Londres (17 Carlton House Terrace), à 2 min. de marche de Trafalgar Square et de la National Gallery (Métro : Charing Cross).

I travelled to London on Tuesday 29th March to attend to the Private View of the 199th Exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours at the Mall Galleries. I feel priviledged and honoured to be one of the participating artists of this major art exhibition, showing my work, "Stone Treasure", alongside paintings by some of Britain's leading watercolour artists : David Poxon, Shirley Trevena, Chris Forsey, John Raynes, Mat Barber Kennedy, Naomi Tydeman, Sandra Walker, Jean Noble, Ann Blockley, Amanda Spencer, ... as well as Xidan Chen (CHN) and more ...

This event showcases contemporary watercolours in a wide variety of styles and techniques. The 448 paintings on display offer a watercolour odyssey that demonstrates the whole range of the use of water-soluble media from traditional forms to the most experimental works techniques. The quality and diversity of works are amazing and stimulate an artist's mind : pure watercolour works, pigments applied on textured support with use of gesso, textured works build-up layer by layer, collages, inlays, watercolour mixed with acrylics / gouache / inks, beautiful sketchbooks, ...

Thanks to a brilliant organization and know-how, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours promote the water-soluble media the best way as possible : showing the best of contemporary watercolours, encouraging artists to new paths of creation and development of their work and technique, offering them new sources of inspiration and the occasion to share their vision of the medium. Definitely, this year show will be one to remember, it is worth well a visit !

This event takes place until 10th April 2011 at the Mall Galleries, London (17 Carlton House Terrace). The Mall Galleries are located at 2 minutes walk from Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery (Underground station : Charing Cross).

Thank you for coming to the PV and giving me your impressions about my work. It was great to meet you.
Indeed, watercolour is a medium that offers an infinite range of possibilities to work with.
I am already sure that I will love Venice, I long to see the colours that Turner depicted in his works !
