Here is the fifth step of my work. I firstly depicted the temple and its columns with the same colours I had used before.
To paint the wings, especially the left one, was the most difficult part of the painting process. I daren't count the hours that I spent working on this! It was like solving a problem : how could I do this? I had no idea! While I was painting, I was trying to find a solution to preserve the tranparency of the wing but I also had to allow accidents to happen, to impose themselves, ... like a kind of magic, of spontaneity, which is necessary to the art of painting.
All the white areas you can see are the blank of the paper, they are only enhanced with a transparent and iridescent white in order to make an allusion to the magic effect of a stone bringing into life.
Voici la cinquième étape de mon travail. J'ai tout d'abord représenté le temple et ses colonnes à l'aide de couleurs identiques à celles utilisées précédemment.
Peindre les ailes, et plus paticulièrement celle de gauche, était l'étape la plus difficile du procédé. Je n'ose pas compter les heures passées pour y parvenir! C'était comme solutionner un problème : comment pouvais-je y arriver? Je n'en avais pas la moindre idée! Alors que je peignais, je tâchais de trouver une solution pour préserver la transparence de l'aile, mais je devais également permettre à certains accidents de se produire, de s'imposer, ... Comme une sorte de magie, de spontanéïté, nécessaire à l'art de peindre.
Le blanc transparent que vous pouvez voir est celui du papier, tout simplement rehaussé de blanc iridescent transparent, afin de faire allusion à la féérie d'une statue de pierre qui s'éveille à la vie.
