Au revoir / Goodbye ... Shanghai

La Biennale Inaugurale Internationale d'Aquarelle de Shanghai Zhujiajiao a fermé ses portes ce dimanche 31 octobre. La plus grande exposition d'aquarelle au monde a accueilli les oeuvres de plus de 200 aquarellistes sélectionnés et venant des quatre coins du globe : Europe, Australie,  Etats-Unis et, bien sûr, Asie. Selon le Comité organisateur, "les oeuvres exposées lors de cette Biennale sont les meilleures du genre à notre époque. Elles sont représentatives de la diversité, vibrance et versatilité du médium aquarelle."

Pour sa première édition, l'exposition a attiré envrion un millier de visiteurs par jour. Elle a été mise à l'honneur dans chaque newsletter mensuelle de l'Exposition Universelle 2010 et couverte par la publication artistique la plus influente en Chine, l'Art Magazine.

De plus, cet événement a créé de nouvelles amitiés ou renforcé les liens existants entre les artistes de par le monde, puisqu'il a permis à chacun d'entre nous de découvrir les oeuvres et influences d'autres aquarellistes : Amanda Spencer (UK), David Poxon (UK), Carol Carter (USA), Nicholas Simmons (USA), Keiko Tanabe (USA), Thomas W. Schaller (USA), David Burge (Australia), Javier Oña (ES), Juan Carlos Cardesin (ES), Hans Groenveld (NL), ...

Inside the Quanhua Watercolour Art Gallery ...

The Inaugural Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolour Biennial Exhibition closed its doors on Sunday 31^rst October. The world's largest watercolour show presented works from about 200 selected artists coming form all over the world : Europe, Australia, United States of America and, of course, Asia. According to the organizing Committee, "the works displayed in this Biennial are the pinnacles of this genre of our time. They are representitives of the diversity, vibrancy, and versatility of the medium of watercolour."

For its first edition, the show attracted about 1.000 visitors a day. It was featured in every monthly newsletter of the China World Expo 2010 and covered by the most influential art publication in China, the Art Magazine.

Moreover, this event created new friendships between artists worldwide or strengthened the existing ones, as it offered to each of us the opportunity to discover other watercolour painters's works and influences : Amanda Spencer (UK), David Poxon (UK), Carol Carter (USA), Nicholas Simmons (USA), Keiko Tanabe (USA), Thomas W. Some nice new pics I hadn't seen before, thanks for posting them. That was a landmark exhibition, they spared no expense, and I wouldn't be surprised if the next one draws even more artists worldwide.
I wish I could be there now to see David Poxon's show, I can't imagine seeing 30 of his masterpieces in one place - a worthy follow-up to the Biennial, and I wish him a lot of success!

Bonjour Cathy,
La Biennale de Shanghai devrait avoir lieu tous les deux ans au même endroit (Quanhua Watercolour Art Gallery).
Peut-être qu'un tel événement s'exportera un beau jour jusqu'aux portes de l'Europe, ce serait à espérer.

Et, oui, j'ai eu le bonheur de participer à cet événement, avec l'une des aquarelles que tu préfères d'ailleurs, "Quelque part sous l'Océan" (Somewhere Beyond the Sea). Elle figure sur les photos postées ci-dessus.

Merci, merci de nous tenir au courant de ce genre d'évènement! Comme j'aurais aimé pouvoir parcourir ces salles! Sais-tu s'ils ont prévu de refaire une telle exposition? Où? et Quand? Cela va-t-il devenir un rendez vous mondial biennal ou annuel?
